INTERVIEW: The Ellis Mano Band

Major kudos and accolades on your freshly-minted new album MORPH which is set to light up record charts when it drops this coming February 21! Lukas, can you talk about what inspired this incredible LP release?

The album MORPH is a musical journey and a reflection of our growth as a band. It’s also a very special milestone for me personally because it’s the first album where I was fully involved in every song from the ground up. On previous releases, I had to work with material from past members, but MORPH marks the first time we created everything together as this lineup. We’ve experienced so much over the past few years—highs, lows, touring, and meeting incredible fans—all of which have influenced these songs. We wanted to create an album that’s diverse yet unmistakably us. Our biggest inspirations were themes like change, new beginnings, and personal growth—that’s what “Morph” means to us.

Nico, one of the tunes which is very much front-and-center on the new and upcoming MORPH LP is Count Me In which has received the companion music video treatment; congrats! How involved in the behind-the-scenes production was the Ellis Mano Band on this new music video?

We all had a lot of fun making the video for “Count me In”! Because we’ve mostly made performance videos in the past, we felt like doing something different. We rediscovered ourselves by wanting to do something fun and not too serious. And I personally really liked the acting aspect! In the end, the whole vibe of the video reminded us  a bit of the movie “The Big Lebowski” We shot the video in one day with a lot of spontaneity.

Chris, in your humble opinion what sets the MORPH album apart from anything else on the 2025 music landscape?

“I’m not entirely convinced that Morph stands apart from everything else on the 2025 music landscape. But I do believe it’s a well-crafted album. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into it, and it might just be our most refined and evolved work to date.”

Edis, who did the producing honors on the MORPH LP and what did the in-studio collaboration between band and producer look like while fashioning and shaping the new album?

I write the music and produce the albums in my own studio. Of course the band is 100% involved and helps me with input and ideas. We know each other so well musically that I know exactly who can do what very well. We often understand each other without many words when it comes to music, but for business we need a lot of words…haha!

Severin, what does the touring/performing dance card look like in the coming weeks and months for the Ellis Mano Band?

Our tour starts on March 28th in Vienna, then Hungary and further dates in Austria before we play Switzerland. From April we will be playing across Germany. We are also looking forward to the festivals in summer! Get your tickets now! For detailed info check  our website.

Lukas, as we noted at the tip-top, the Ellis Mano Band is a multinational one. How do those seemingly disparate roots of individual band members inform and influence the incredible sounds which you all create?

Our diverse backgrounds are a huge asset to our music. Each of us brings their own musical heritage and influences—from blues and rock to soul and jazz. That variety is what gives our sound its richness. At the same time, we share a common musical language: passion, authenticity, and a love for honest, handcrafted music. We complement each other not only musically but also personally—you can really hear that on MORPH.

Nico, who are some of the key musical influences on the Ellis Mano Band?

Oh, I think everyone in the band sees it a little differently. Personally I think: some “Pink Floyd” a pinch of “John Mayer” some old school rock in general. Maybe some “Led Zeppelin”.. some Pop influences of course, but I honestly can’t put my finger on it. I think the list will be rather long.

Chris, the MORPH LP is being released courtesy of the good folks at SPV Recordings! What makes SPV the perfect home for the Ellis Mano Band and their music?

“Good folks indeed! They genuinely appreciate what we do. SPV provides us with fantastic support and the manpower we need. They ensure our albums are available worldwide, and we truly love working with them.”

Edis, any final thoughts you might like to leave readers with regarding the forthcoming February 21 release of the Ellis Mano Band album MORPH?

Listen to our music and come to our concerts. You won’t be disappointed. We always give 100% and want to go on an intensive musical journey with each individual. If you allow it, something wonderful will happen.
