Which ‘Seinfeld’ Character Would Be The Best Podcast Host?

The Simpsons has been around long enough that podcasts have been worked into not only jokes and references, but plotlines. There was an episode where Lisa and Marge got super into true crime podcasts, and then Kent Brockman started his own podcast. It was solid, all things considered. Given that, the idea of what Simpsons character would be the best podcast host feels less interesting. Also, it’s probably Lisa by default, other than grabbing some random, tertiary character like Sideshow Mel. What about a show like, say, Seinfeld. Podcasts did not exist when that show ended. Who would be the best podcast host from that show’s world?

Let’s start with finding a secondary or tertiary character before moving onto the core four. Kenny Bania would be a bad podcast host, as the comedy would be dreadful. There is nary a parental figure who would have a good podcast, though, listening to Frank and Estelle could have an interesting car crash vibe, like listening to Doughboys. Newman, honestly, might do a decent job, but it feels like he would be hit or miss. Jackie Chiles was quite loquacious. If Puddy had a New Jersey Devils podcast, and you were a Devils fan, you might appreciate it, presuming you just wanted a homer who feels that you’ve gotta support the team. Honestly, once Russell Dalrymple got back from his Greenpeace mission, or rather if he got back, he’d have the best podcast, presuming he’d be forthright in conversation about the TV industry.

Alright then, so what about the core four? Jerry is a professional comedian, which is a plus. On the other hand, he’s too selfish and not really interested in other people. Unless he did one of those solo podcasts that are like 15 minutes of riffing, we don’t see him enjoying it, or doing a good job at it. George, frankly, doesn’t seem up to it. He’d give up fast, and probably spend half of every recording complaining about the equipment. Also, George has the least intellectual curiosity, and the least conversational ease, of the quartet. Elaine could probably do a good job. She’s fairly smart and less misanthropic than Jerry. Now that’s not to say she likes other people by and large, or that she isn’t selfish. However, what would she talk about? What are Elaine’s interests? Murphy Brown? The Baltimore Orioles?

That’s why, ultimately, we think Kramer would be the best podcast host, because he would be the most interesting. Even if he just brought on his friends and talked about weird business ideas, wouldn’t that be engaging? Kramer knows how to turn a phrase. He’s odd, yes, but he’s not stupid. You would never know where an episode would go, and we can’t imagine him running out of steam. Hell, he once turned his entire apartment into a talk show set. Why wouldn’t he turn it into a podcast studio given the chance? Now, we just wish Seinfeld had gotten the chance to do an episode where Kramer had a podcast.
