Celebrating Black Excellence: 2nd Annual Black History Month Event Hosted by Mistah Fab

On February 22, 2025, Menlo Park’s Hamilton Park hosted the 2nd Annual Black History Month Black Excellence Event, a vibrant celebration of culture, achievement, and community unity. The event, presented by Community Partners for Neighborhood Development and Empowerment Corporation (CPNDEC), honored the legacy of Pastor Hattie Bostic, a dedicated leader whose nonprofit continues to uplift and empower underserved communities.

Pastor Bostic’s vision of education, economic development, and social progress remains at the heart of CPNDEC’s mission, and this event served as a testament to the organization’s ongoing impact. Under the leadership of George Bostic, CPNDEC continues to bring people together in meaningful ways, ensuring that Black excellence is recognized and celebrated.

A Celebration of Leadership and Community

The event was hosted by musical artist and activist Mistah FAB, whose energy and passion for uplifting the Black community set the tone for the day. A well-respected voice in the Bay Area, Mistah FAB engaged attendees with messages of empowerment, resilience, and collective progress.

Among the distinguished guests were former East Palo Alto Mayor Lisa Yarbrough-Gauthier and former Menlo Park Mayor Cecilia Taylor, both of whom have long been champions of social justice and community development. Additionally, several other notable public figures from the Bay Area made appearances, lending their support to the event’s mission.

With more than 20 vendors, the event also highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit of Black-owned businesses, providing a platform for local artisans, business owners, and creatives to showcase their work. The atmosphere was enriched by incredible food, offering a taste of diverse cultural flavors that brought people together in celebration.

Media Coverage and Outreach

The success of the event was amplified through strategic media outreach, ensuring its impact reached audiences beyond Menlo Park. Lady Diviniti, Sandra, and Los of the IUG played a crucial role in securing media attention, ensuring the event was well-publicized, widely covered and professionally captured.

A significant media highlight was pre-coverage and reporting by ABC 7 News, which recognized the importance of the gathering and brought further visibility to the Black Excellence Event.

Their coverage reinforced the event’s impact, emphasizing the strength and influence of Black leadership in the Bay Area.
