Thoughts Upon A Trip To Fenway Park

Recently, I went to Boston for the first time. For the occasion, I paid a trip to Fenway Park, perhaps the most-iconic baseball stadium there is. I saw the Red Sox face the Astros. Aside from the weather, which involved some rain, here is my assessment.

Fenway Park has been renovated in some ways, of course, but it still has some of the old bones in it. This leads to some historical charm, but it also creates logistical concerns. The concourses are overcrowded. You can’t walk all the way around the park, thanks to the Green Monster. Of course, the Green Monster is the most-significant part of the park. I would never want to lose that.

During the game I was at, I saw a double hit off the Green Monster, and also a homer into the seats atop the giant wall. That’s all I wanted. People sang “Sweet Caroline.” I got to witness that as well. It was a cool viewing experience. Also, I will note that for as crowded and well-worn as the park is, the amenities are impressive. They have a lot of food and alcohol offerings. Also, Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. Actually, the Dunkin’ coffee was the best deal. I had a large iced coffee for $6.50. That was cheaper than bottled water.

Fenway Park is not generic, which is great. It has some flaws, as any park does, but it’s viable in construction and worth taking a trip to if you are a baseball fan.
