The “Other” Friends Of ’90s Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon characters in the ‘90s had best friends. This, perhaps, helped stoke the idea of having a “best friend,” which is kind of odd when you think about it. However, these ‘90s Nick characters who had a best friend did not have only one friend. Here is an ode to the other friends of Nickelodeon.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete gives us multiple brothers Pete to look at. Big Pete had Ellen, of course, but he also had his guy pals. Teddy could be annoying, and Phil could be snarky, but they were there. Plus, Phil had those glasses. Artie was more a personal superhero than a best friend, but Nona F. Mecklenberg was a friend to Little Pete, in part because they were the same age. Ahh, but what about third-season additions Monica and Wayne? Actually, Wayne sucked.

Clarissa had Sam. Sam was such a good friend he was allowed to come in through her window via ladder. Clarissa mostly just hung out with Sam, but she had other friends. You know, like Hillary, or Olivia. Yeah, we had to look up their names.

Doug had a great friend in Skeeter, and a gal pal to crush on in Patti Mayonnaise, but he had other friends. Maybe they weren’t good friends, but Chalky, Connie, and, to a degree, Beebe, were at least there to hang out with from time to time. You know, for when Skeeter was busy. Oh, and Pork Chop was anthropomorphic enough to sort of be a friend.

Did Arnold have friends other than Gerald? Give us your thoughts. Rocko did not seem to have any friends other than Heffer and Filburt. Kenan had Kel, and vice versa, but that was essentially it. Alex Mack did eventually get a second friend is Louis. And so on, and so forth.

See, even if you have one friend you spend seemingly all your time with, you can have other friends!
