The Indiana Hoosiers have had basketball success. Not as much in recent years, but over time. In the world of football, well, that has been less true. It’s true in 2024, though, and it’s awesome. I don’t root for any particular college football team, and as such, I find myself rooting for the Hoosiers.
The Big Ten and the SEC are superconferences, and with the new 12-year playoff, there was a thought that four teams from each conference would make it. Three of the picks for the Big Ten, Ohio State, Oregon, and Penn State, have all held form. However, Ohio State has lost. So has Penn State. Indiana, though, is undefeated.
For the first time in history, Indiana has won 10 games. That’s notable, because it has played 10 games total. The Hoosiers are ranked in the top 10 and could easily make the playoffs. Indiana hired a new head coach in Curt Cignetti. He had worked wonders at lower levels, but this was a different story. Well, Cignetti and all his transfers have panned out. This is already the best season in Indiana football history.
The Hoosiers have 10 wins. They should beat Purdue. If Indiana goes 11-1, there is a good chance it makes the playoffs. The one question? A trip to Ohio State. The Hoosiers could lose that one and still make the 12-team playoff. If they win that one? Well, then there’s a chance they win the Big Ten. Yeah, I’m definitely rooting for that.
