Actor Tom Holland Lands Lucrative Production House Deal with Sony Studios

They don’t call him ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ for nothing…

Fresh off of a bevy of smash box-office hits (mostly those with ‘Sony-Marvel’ films focusing on everyone’s favorite neighborhood wall-crawler) and with even more on the way – the eagerly-anticipated and very mysterious Christopher Nolan film and a new sequel for the Spider-Man movie franchise – what could accomplished thespian Tom Holland possibly do for a follow-up? Answers Ladies and Gents, we got answers!

According to our back-slapping buddies over at The Hollywood Reporter, actor Tom Holland plans on enriching his steady working relationship with Sony Pictures via his freshly-minted production house Billy17. According to sources, Sony has greenlit an official production deal for Holland’s company which basically means that the 28-year-old is having the best week ever.

Working side-by-side with his brother Harry and mutual friend and colleague Will South, it looks as if Tom Holland is set to hit the ground running with a slew of exciting projects on the Billy17 slate, including the mucho-buzzed about Rodney Rothman-written film Burnt which reportedly Holland is circling with an eye for starring in. Other projects associated with the new production house include an adaptation of the best-selling Graeme Simsion book The Rosie Project, as well as another novel, Teddy Wayne’s The Winner.

In a press release announcing the deal between Billy17 and Sony, Holland said that “I’ve had an incredibly happy and successful relationship with Sony Pictures for almost a decade, so they felt like the perfect partner to launch our production company with. It’s been an ambition of mine to take this step for some time now, and we’re incredibly excited to bring entertaining, and rewatchable movies to the big screen. This is the hope for us, and it starts with Burnt, an idea which has been sitting in our heads for a few years, and having Rodney attached to pen our most ambitious project is incredible. We’re diving into the deep end here, and we’re extremely excited for what comes next.”

Ah, but what of the studio which has brought us such magical movies as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, This Is the End, Casino Royale and Ghostbusters: Afterlife? What sayest Sony Studios to this new working arrangement with one of their biggest stars?

According to Sony Pictures Big Kahuna Tom Rothman, everything’s Jake and the Fatman with this new with Holland: “Tom, Harry, and Will are bursting with cool ideas, and have the zeal to follow through on them. Sony is lucky as hell to be extending our already immensely successful relationship with Tom, and our ongoing work on the franchises we have together, to a new era which will take advantage of the trios producing skills, in wonderful addition to Tom’s extraordinary acting abilities.  We are pushing hard on these new projects, with doubtless more to come.”

Though it’s almost de regulare for an actor or actress in Hollywood who have achieved some significant success to found their own production houses, we here at Vents HQ wish Tom Holland and Co. only the best in this new creative endeavor; go make something good and – dare I add? – ‘Amazing’!
