INTERVIEW: Yazelle

1.) We’re very happy to be speaking with one of the most talented and genre-defying music artists on the scene today, YAZELLE; greetings and salutations YAZELLE and welcome to Vents Magazine! Before we dive into the Q&A musical rabbit hole, how is the latter-half of 2024 treating you and yours?

Thank you so much! It’s been a busy but exciting time, and the year is definitely wrapping up on a high note. My team has been expanding, and I’m really excited about all the progress. I’m about to release my fifth track of the year, along with my second music video. I’m also working on my sixth release for next year. To top it off, I’ll be performing live for the first time, showcasing all my music – including the new release. It’s been a whirlwind year, and I’m excited for what’s to come!

2.) Major kudos and accolades on your freshly-minted new single Feel Me which is lighting up record charts ‘round the ever-lovin’ globe! Starting at the top, can you walk readers through the genesis of this incredible tune? How did one of the very best songs of 2024 come into being?

Thank you! “Feel Me” came together at a songwriting camp I held in July for my artist project. I worked with my usual producer and co-writer, and this was the first time we worked with other writers too. It was great to get some fresh ideas and perspectives, which really added something new to the track. After the camp, we took it to his studio to finish it up, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

3.) Who did the producing honors on the Feel Me single and what did the in-studio collaboration between artist and producer look like while fashioning and shaping this new gem of a ditty?

The production on “Feel Me” was handled by my go-to producer and co-writer, Eljay. We’ve been working together for a couple of years now, so we’ve developed a bespoke sound and structure that feels really unique to us. All of the songs we create tend to naturally follow a distinct pattern, which is something we’ve crafted over time. Our in-studio collaboration was a great mix of creative energy (as it always is). We started with the ideas we developed during the songwriting camp and then kept building on them, leveling up the track as we went along.

4.) Feel Me mixes a potent cocktail of different genres of music such as house, garage and electro beat all highlighted by your out of this world voice! Did the co-mingling of various and sundry styles of music happen organically, or was there a bigger master plan involved in achieving this amazing sound?

Thanks for the compliment! The mix of house, garage, and electro beat happened pretty organically. Eljay and I have always enjoyed experimenting with different sounds, so it wasn’t a big planned thing – it just felt right for the track. We wanted to bring a fresh energy while staying true to the vibe we’ve developed together over the years. When it came to my vocals, I just focused on making sure they fit with the production and enhanced the feel of the song.

5.) In your humble opinion, what differentiates Feel Me from the Distinguished Competition on the current day music scene?

I think what sets it apart is the way it fuses different genres to create something that feels both new and familiar. The track blends the upbeat energy of house and garage with an atmospheric, electro edge, giving it a sound that stands out.

What also makes it unique is the emotional depth in the lyrics, which adds another layer of connection. It’s not just about the beat – it’s about drawing the listener in and making them feel something real. I truly believe it has its own space in today’s music scene, and I’m excited to see how people connect with it.

6.) With the release of the new single, can fans look forward to catching you on the touring/ performing circuit in the coming weeks and months?

After spending the past year or so writing, recording, and honing my sound, the next thing I’m focusing on is sharing the music live with people. I’m really looking forward to stepping on stage and bringing the songs to life. My first performance will be on December 12th, and that’s just the beginning. I’m excited to make live shows a big part of what I do next year!

7.) What does the prognosis look like for a possible EP or LP release from you in 2025? Is this something which we should keep eyes and ears on the lookout for?

With me, there’s always the possibility of something new, so definitely stay tuned! I’ve got a whole catalogue of songs from my songwriting camp this summer, and I’m always working on fresh material. I’m all about creating and keeping new music coming. There’s plenty more to look forward to!

8.) Who inspires you musically-speaking?

Musically, I’m inspired by artists who tell stories that really connect, like Raye and Billie Eilish. Raye’s lyrics feel super raw and honest, and Billie’s use of vocal stacking and harmonies creates these really beautiful, emotional vibes. I’ve always loved the vocal melodies in R&B – there’s something about the feeling and emotion in them that just resonates. I try to bring that same energy and honesty into my own music

9.) You first hit the creative ground running as one of the most respected and sought-after nail artists in that industry. What ultimately led you from that and onto the pathway of a career in Music?

I first explored music many years ago but ended up rerouted into non-creative environments that felt stifling. Eventually, I found my way into the nail industry, working within fashion and music, which became a new outlet for my creativity. Even then, making music was always in the background – it felt like unfinished business. Over time, I knew I had to come back to it. Returning felt like the most natural progression – it’s where I’ve always belonged and now I’ve gone all in with it.

Generally, when I’m fully committed to something, I have an inner drive to make things happen, so I’m really excited to see where this journey will take me.

10.) At the end of the day, what do you hope listeners walk away with after giving many-a- spin to your gorgeous new single Feel Me?

I hope they feel the intensity and connection in the song. It’s about that raw, magnetic pull between two people that you can’t escape. I want people to feel the rush, the tension, and the addictive energy that comes with being completely consumed by someone or something. Whether it’s the vibe or the lyrics, I hope it leaves people with that feeling of being caught in a moment they can’t let go of.
