Written about a breakup, the single once again showcases TIMEA’s mesmerising ability to lace her songwriting with gripping tales of human emotion. Speaking about the track, she discussed how the track arose: “I don’t understand the whole concept of cutting the person who once meant the most completely out of my life. ‘sick of playing pretend’ is all about trying to act like I don’t miss that person anymore whilst admitting to be asking the question, can we ever be friends?”
