Riverside Music TV Feature The View’s Kyle Falconer In Latest Live Session

Championing artists across Scotland, Riverside Music TV is back for November with the release of their latest showcase. With artists such as Rhianne Downey and ILI in their session history, the latest instalment features The View frontman Kyle Falconer as he dives into his impressive solo career thus far.

Reflecting on his artistic career, the session sees Falconer perform two tracks from his most recent solo album, No Love Songs For Laura, as well as dive into his thoughts on the highs and lows of his time on the road.

Kicking off with the immortal earworm of ‘Stress Ball’, the performance kicks off with equal parts pop-sentimentalism and authentic passion. From its disco-tinged intro through to its ferrying verses and shining choruses, the track pays homage to not only Falconer’s distinctive tones but his charm for producing sticky melodies.

Speaking about the single, Kyle explains, “It’s about two characters who are meant to be me and Laura”, Kyle adds. “We tried to read it out as ‘Kyle’ and ‘Laura’, but it was too close to the bone. I remember having to leave the room, we had to tone it down as it was just too heavy. You have to see it. It’s probably one of the proudest things I’ve ever done.

Shortly following ‘Stress Ball’ comes a resounding rendition of ‘Laura, a poignant track that was written shortly following Falconer’s final rehab session. Once again using his powerful wordplay to produce a dynamic indie-pop anthem from the toughest of circumstances, the song puts the true beauty of Falconer’s emotive songwriting on display.
