Acclaimed pianist and rising pop star Micah McLaurin has released the provocative music video for his steamy club anthem “Call Me” via Casa Doce Music. Directed by An Le (Cher, Mariah Carey) and styled by Eyob Yohannes (Madonna, Julia Fox), the “Call Me” music video opens on Micah in an ocean of serenity, alone at the piano. No longer repressing his carnal thoughts, the video launches Micah into a sex-charged scene before being led through sensual dance sequences to the Garden of Eden by the original voice of temptation — a live snake! “An Le, Victoria, and Now Open were amazing to work with,” shares Micah on the collaboration. “They brought the lyrics to life with a visual world and storytelling that was unique and modern, and incorporated the elements of my music and style into one narrative.”
Utilizing the full scope of their fashion-forward digital production studio, Le and his Now Open partner Victoria Pavon mixed high fashion with raw elements from Micah’s own story. Intertwining biblical and sexual references, the “Call Me” visual draws inspiration from the golden age of big, pop music videos to find Micah reclaiming and owning the parts of himself he had to hide from his devout, religious upbringing.
“Call Me” was produced by Fernando Garibay (Lady Gaga), co-written with Simon Wilcox (Carly Rae Jepson), and finds Micah extending his range into sweaty, sex-positive dance pop. “It’s such a sassy song that shows a totally different side of my personality from the classical pianist that people know,” adds Micah. “I hid behind the piano for most of my life and it became my sole identity and the only thing people saw about me. With this song, I get to show more of who I am and own it.”
Winning over crowds with his stunning performance at this summer’s Dolce and Gabbana’s Alta Gioelleria in Sardinia, Micah has received critical praise for his retro gloss pop gem “Don’t Give Up On Love” which was inspired by his journey from virtuoso pianist to pop singer and songwriter.
Along that journey, Micah began exploring music outside of the confines of classical when he reimagined a collection of standards with deep personal meaning in his 2023 instrumental album Diamonds. Bridging classical and pop, the album was recorded with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London at the historic Abbey Road Studios and British Grove Studios alongside an all-star team including Nick Patrick and GRAMMY-recognized arrangers and composers David Campbell (Elton John, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Adele), Chris Walden (Aretha Franklin, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder), and Robin Smith (Andrea Bocelli, Tina Turner, Cher).
