Merseybeat Icon BILLY J. KRAMER “My Sweet Rose” Taken From New Album ARE YOU WITH ME?

Billy J. Kramer, an artist who reached the top of the charts in the early 60’s and became a Merseybeat legend with his band Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas and earlier this summer celebrated the release of Are You With Me?–a new ten-song album– is sharing his new video for the breezy pop confection “My Sweet Rose”—an album highlight that hearkens back to the distinctive melodies of his early 60’s hits. For the new material, he enlisted Laurence Juber, a former member of Wings, and Covington, Kentucky–based musician Jeff Perholtz (The Newbees), to co-produce the album and he returned to the iconic Abbey Road Studios’ Studio Two—the room where many of The Dakotas’ early hits were recorded. The video sports vintage animation vibes that perfectly pair with the retro tone of the song.

Notes Kramer: “This song was written by Jeff Perholtz who knew my partner Rose before we ever met.  It’s such a lovely tribute to all of the joy and inspiration she brings me and I’m truly singing my heart out on the song!”

Kramer also collaborated with artists including Tom Hambridge (Mick Jagger, Buddy Guy), Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel), Mark Hudson (Ringo Starr), and Bobby and Billy Alessi (who scored a Top 10 UK hit “Oh Lori”).  Kramer provided two original songs to the mix, “Be Kind To Emma” and “Peace of Mind,” and the lone cover song, a strikingly poignant version of Lennon’s “Jealous Guy,” rounds out the album.
