Vents Exclusive Interview with Victoria Pousada

I was lucky to be able to interview the ever charming Victoria Pousada. As an actress she has worked on a number of projects which are in post-production and headed to the film festival circuit soon. As a model, she is changing the mindset of the fashion industry to recognize the beauty in curves. Born and raised in New York, Victoria is looking forward to her upcoming time in Los Angeles as an opportunity to add to her growing resume.

Hi Victoria. Welcome to Ventsmagazine. How are you doing?

I’m doing well! Been busy auditioning – which I’m incredibly grateful for given the industry slow-down we’re experiencing in entertainment and the curve model circuit right now –

1. You are an actress and a model. What new projects are you working on?

I’m just trying to beat the industry slow down like everyone else. The entertainment industry is now in its third strike in a year. This one’s for video game Voiceover actors. Thankfully, I don’t just do Voiceover, I do commercial, TV / Film, and modeling. NY for me has been busy with auditions and callbacks, but not bookings. So, I’ll be spending the month of September in LA. Every time I go to LA I book something! It’s like my lucky charm! But I also want to take advantage of this down time to get out of NYC for a while and have a mental health reset.

2. You have walked for several designers during your modeling career. Which one has been your favorite and why?

Renee Cafaro by far! Walking for her in London Fashion Week was an experience that I’ll never forget. The entire program was handled so professionally and was well-organized. And the atmosphere she creates for her models is so supportive and motivating.

3. If you could walk for any designer, who would you choose and why?

I would love to walk for AdoreMe! They are a truly inclusive brand with products that I love and use regularly! And their shows are always lively and look like a real blast to be a part of. And they regularly employ a diverse array of models.

4. As an actress, what do you look for in a film role?

I look primarily for how much I’d enjoy exploring that character. And secondly, if it’s something that is right for me. I also make sure that the cast and crew are a group of people that I would enjoy working with, especially with regards to professionalism.

5. What’s the biggest hurdle have you ever faced in your life?

This is not the biggest hurdle I’ve undergone in life – those stories are for another time – However, my parents divorce was a difficult time in my life. They divorced when I was 16. I was told in a less-than-savory way during my high school midterms. Needless to say I failed those midterms. And both my parents found new partners within a year. I guess that’s why I advocate so strongly for long engagements!

6. What is it you like most about being a model?

Despite the struggles the profession brings, I do most definitely still love it. I think I’m still that little girl inside who’d sneak into her mother and sister’s closets to steal their clothes, shoes, and makeup and play dress up. Now I get paid to basically do the same thing!

7. Do you have any future projects you can talk about?

I’m waiting on footage for a short film I did a couple months ago, called Merlion, which is going to be submitted to film festivals! And I finally got the footage from another short film I did this year called Care Bear.

8. Where can people connect with you?
