Actor Alejandro Estevon Angel is excited for his newest role in the film “Harold and The Purple Crayon” which is out in theaters now. Alejandro or Baby Dro as he is known to his fans on social media, plays the part of the Helicopter Kid. The film which is based on the book by Crockett Johnson also stars Zachary Levi, Zooey Deschanel, and Lil Rel Howery. I caught up with Atlanta native, Alejandro, for this interview about this movie and acting career so far.
1. Your new role is in the film Harold and The Purple Crayon.
What can you tell us about that role?
I play the role of “Helicopter Kid” in “Harold and the Purple Crayon”. He is shopping with his mom when Harold makes the coin helicopter he’s in fly across the store and cause chaos.
2. What was it like filming with the cast?
Filming with the cast was so much fun, this has to be one of the most fun productions I’ve been on, everybody was really laid back and having fun. Zachary is really funny.
3. I’m sure it was a lot of fun filming. Is there a funny story from the set you would like to share?
A funny story from the set is when I met my stunt double, I was shocked at her Afro wig.
4. You were also in “Guardians of the Galaxy”. What can you tell us about that role?
I was cast as a Star Kid in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3”. The kids were engineered to be the first civilization of a new planet. We spoke an alien language and we only knew two words.
5. You have quite a resume. What has been your favorite role so far?
My favorite role so far has definitely been in “Harold and the Purple Crayon”. It was so much fun filming my scene.
6. What is it you like most about being an actor?
What I like the most about acting is going on set and meeting new friends and working with some of my favorite actors.
7. Do you have any future projects you can talk about?
I booked a lead role in a movie prior to the strike, it was postponed and still in pre-production so I don’t have any information on that just yet.
