“ILIKEU” is the Milwaukee-born, Chicago made and L.A. based artist Silas Short’s first release since his debut EP Drawing dropped on Stones Throw in 2021. After the release of Drawing, Silas moved from Chicago to Los Angeles and starting working on new music. “ILIKEU” is the first taste of the songs he wrote and produced during this period. The track builds on the foundation of his Drawing EP with a lush sound and flirtatious energy, as he embarks on the next chapter.
The video, directed by Jackie Radinsky and Silas, pays homage to the famous 1983 Maxell commercial, The Matrix and Gregg Araki’s Nowhere. Silas is seen alongside various props throughout – arranging dominoes, jamming on his guitar, and talking to a love interest through an oversized, hand-made phone.
