London-based TikTok star Neah Tuohy is raising awareness against content creators who exploit individuals for views by uploading discriminatory content without consent.
Tuohy, a vocal advocate for positive change and mental health, is seeking legal action after falling victim to discrimination and sexual innuendos during a podcast appearance on the RTM Show.
The incident, which occurred over a year ago, saw the TikTok star walking off the set after repeatedly being referred to as a white girl and being asked derogatory questions, leaving her feeling attacked and vulnerable.
The podcast episode, which was originally labeled ‘controlling partners,’ hears Neah’s partner swiftly intervening and putting a stop to the interview, which seemed to encourage the host, Young Spray, to turn his attention to him and make a comment on the possibility of violence arising between the pair.
The short clip, which was uploaded without Neah’s knowledge or consent, was initially removed after she refused to release the rights to her appearance. However, the RTM Show’s host recently re-uploaded the controversial video to YouTube in a bid to gain views after the social media star once again went viral for her positive spin on life, prompting Tuohy to take decisive legal steps.
Tuohy’s experience on the RTM Show highlights a troubling trend among some content creators who prioritize views over the mental well-being of their guests.
“I was subjected to degrading remarks that no one should have to endure,” Tuohy stated. “It’s appalling that content creators think it’s acceptable to re-upload such harmful material after it was taken down for good reason. I’m taking legal action not just for myself, but to set a precedent,” Tuohy explained. “Creators must understand that exploiting individuals for views is unacceptable and has real consequences.”
Through her platform, @neahinspired is calling for stricter regulations and enforcement by social media platforms to protect individuals from similar situations. She urges followers and fellow content creators to join her in advocating for a safer, more respectful online environment.
“This fight is about ensuring that no one else has to go through what I did,” Tuohy emphasized. “We need to hold content creators accountable and demand ethical standards in the digital world.”
Neah Tuohy continues to use her influence to promote positive and respectful content creation. She encourages her audience to support the movement by spreading awareness and now embarking on a new journey campaigning for change on social media.
