Chengcheng Tang, an LA-based music producer and songwriter, is not only producing hits but also actively shaping the future of the music industry. As a newly inducted voting member of the Recording Academy, Tang joined the ranks in June 2024, where he’ll have a direct impact on the direction of music as he casts his vote for the industry’s most prestigious awards. His role as a voting member underscores his growing influence and commitment to excellence in music worldwide.
In early 2025, Tang will reach another milestone with the highly anticipated release of three songs from Chinese artist Boogie (Weibo followers: 2M). These tracks, the product of a high-profile writing camp in Los Angeles, are poised to captivate a diverse global audience.
Tang didn’t just produce the songs—he played a leading role in organizing the entire camp, bringing together top-tier talent, including Keenan Te (1.5M monthly listeners on Spotify) from 88rising and Grammy-nominated songwriter Jesse Thomas, who boasts over 1 billion streams across platforms. Tang orchestrated everything from securing the studio to managing logistics, providing a seamless creative environment for Boogie and the writers to craft the trio of tracks set for release next year.
This project showcases Tang’s rising influence in the global music scene. “Working on multinational collaborations like this has shown me how powerful it is to bring diverse creative perspectives together,” says Tang. His commitment to international work has become central to his career, positioning him as a key player in expanding cross-border music partnerships.
Tang’s involvement in the K-pop industry further underscores his global reach. Recently, he co-wrote a song that has been pitched to major K-pop act NCT Dream, with the track currently on hold and pending consideration. He also actively pitches to major publishers such as Brill Building, Honua, and SM Entertainment, and collaborates with international writers, including a frequent collaborator signed to Ultra Germany.
“Los Angeles puts me at the crossroads of global talent,” Tang explains. “Writers from all over the world come here, and that diversity of perspectives constantly pushes me to explore new creative avenues.” His global approach has expanded his professional network while deepening his understanding of how music connects with different audiences across cultures.
Beyond his international collaborations, Tang’s work in the American market has been equally impressive. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has worked with major media companies such as Netflix, Paramount Pictures, and Universal Music. His music has been featured on hit TV shows like Love is Blind (Netflix), Vanderpump Rules (Bravo), and Jersey Shore (MTV). Collaborations with artists like Liya and Alex Ritchie have also earned international attention.
Tang’s collaboration with Bulgarian singer Liya on the track Stupid for Your Love garnered widespread attention when Liya performed the song on Bulgarian TV shows like Before Noon and Sreshti. Tang’s work on Alex Ritchie’s single Blueprint, which gained traction on iHeartRadio, is another highlight of his expanding portfolio. Additionally, Alex will perform the songs they produced and wrote together at India’s Spring Fest in early 2025—one of the country’s largest cultural festivals, drawing over 80,000 attendees annually to experience a global lineup of music and cultural events.
As a producer for Musicmind Co. and West One Music Group, Tang continues to influence the sound of television and film globally. His experience organizing sessions, producing across genres, and driving multinational projects has solidified his reputation as one of LA’s most versatile and innovative producers.
As Tang continues to push creative boundaries, his work spans a vast array of genres, from K-pop and Chinese pop to European dance, R&B, hip hop, and American Billboard dance pop. His influence on the global music industry is ever-expanding, with the upcoming release of Boogie’s tracks standing as just the latest example of the cross-cultural, genre-defying projects that define his career.
