Octavia, a recently emerging musical project, is the product of a five-year hiatus, the artist returning after conquering mental health struggles and substance abuse to present themes of passion once again. A rebellion-driven second single to add to the newcomer’s discography, Octavia’s latest, ‘9 TO 5’, is a guitar-driven, gritty, grungey, societal commentary, the artist flexing her intricate guitar skills alongside a raw and rugged vocal performance. The riffs ring out into the atmosphere, clamouring the atmosphere to abandon the system, carve your own path and refuse to get caught up in the rat race. It’s a booming alt-rock powerhouse, the solos scream, the vocals are intense and the foundational riff is simple yet addictive.
Octavia dives into the track, ”Five years ago, amidst the confines of my college dorm room, I penned the lyrics to this song. At the time, I found myself immersed in the music of Nirvana, their raw energy sparked a creative fire within me. As graduation approached, with the looming prospect of entering the conventional workforce, a wave of resistance surged through me. Thus, ‘9 to 5’ was born—a melodic rebellion against conformity and a testament to the refusal to succumb to the status quo.”
