dMh unveils his eleven-track cover homage ‘Songs From The North’

In an electrifying celebration of Northern British music, dMh, also known as David Morley Hale, proudly releases his latest LP, ‘Songs From The North’. This eleven-track homage to the musical giants of the region brings new life to iconic songs from bands such as Joy Division, The Human League, and Echo & The Bunnymen. Each track is creatively reimagined, blending dMh’s distinctive DIY aesthetic with deep respect for the original compositions. The album’s diverse soundscape offers listeners a journey through rich, layered interpretations that both honour and reinvent the classics, promising a captivating experience for long-time fans and new listeners alike.

Reflecting on the creation of this ambitious project, dMh shares, “The idea for this album came whilst tinkering with a version of ‘She’s Lost Control’ by the famously northern Joy Division. Having previously released covers of songs from other northern bands and recording an unreleased version of ‘Come Together’ by four Scousers, I realised I was possibly subconsciously working my way to an album’s worth of covers by northern bands. Being a northerner myself, I decided it would be fun to actually complete the task and find a bunch more northern songs to be subjected to varying degrees of mutilation.”

David Morley Hale’s musical journey is as eclectic as his impressive career. Growing up in Preston and studying in Liverpool, dMh has navigated the worlds of voice acting and audiobook narration while releasing a series of acclaimed musical projects. His work includes contemporary classical piano compositions and collaborations featuring notable figures like Stephen Fry. With ‘Songs From The North’, dMh continues to draw critical praise from publications such as Plastic Mag and Backseat Mafia. This latest release is not just a tribute to Northern music but a testament to his ongoing creative evolution. As fans eagerly anticipate what’s next, this LP stands as a vibrant milestone in dMh’s ever-evolving musical odyssey.
