Chili’s is coming for McDonald’s. The fast-casual chain has a new burger that is clearly a take on the Big Mac. It’s a slightly “nicer” version, but at a similar price point. Chili’s isn’t the first place to do its own variation on the Big Mac. Big Boy’s has had one for years. There’s a restaurant near me that has its own Big Mac. You can’t copyright a recipe. Anybody could do a Big Mac if they wanted to.
Honestly? Shout out to McDonald’s for the Big Mac. It created a burger so distinct, and so popular, it gets riffed on/ripped off semi-frequently. Nobody really does a Whopper, or a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger. McDonald’s doesn’t do this, but other places go after the Big Mac. It managed to create a burger that stands out.
Although, Chili’s should also take a shot at Taco Bell. Get a Crunchwrap Supreme in the mix. The problem there, of course, is price. You can’t really undercut Taco Bell to the same degree. Chili’s could do the plussed-up Crunchwrap, though. Why not give it a shot? Chili’s should become the fast-casual place that offers up a version of a dozen famed fast food items. Also, could somebody do a vegetarian version of the Big Mac? Through some Impossible patties in there? Just don’t cook it on the same broiler as the beef burgers like Burger King does with the Impossible Whopper. Thanks.
