Rollie debuts with clean stylisations of ‘Defender’

Nigerian-American Afro Beats newcomer Rollie has emerged with his first recording artist soirée, after establishing himself as a prolific producer. Embracing the rhythmic heart of his genre, he crafts continent-bridging musical journeys.

Rollie’s debut single ‘Defender’, sees the artist grasp the duality of his sound, introducing a flowing bounce and percussion focus to his melodic vocal performance. Collaborating with Cool & Dre, Rollie works to bring a glowing sense of smoothness, cleanly executed with plenty of natural feel among the stylised vocal production. Subtle changes of synth melodies and risers blend the sections and inject a boost of energy where necessary, making for an elegant final product.

Cool & Dre are multi-time Grammy award winners, seeing success across their decades-long career of hip-hop pioneering as well as through their label Epidemic Music. Their credit list is impressive, amassing over 70 million records sold worldwide.

Rollie explains his debut, “Defender is a song of love and sacrifice. It speaks of finding love after losing all hope. It’s saying I appreciate your unconditional love and I’ll sacrifice for you and do whatever it takes to protect and keep the woman of my dreams happy.”
