Sam Addley, known to the industry by his surname, hails from Liverpool, a city in which he’s garnered a reputation for bringing thoughtful lyricism to blends of electronica and expansive band setups. Gracing stages across the UK, in Leeds, Liverpool Birmingham and London, Addley has earned a growing following, putting himself alongside fellow rising stars in his home town.
Opening with a flowing set of piano arpeggios, before diving into high-energy rhythmic moments contrasted with emotive performances, Addley’s latest single ‘Take Me Home’, is a hazy swayer. Fed by an energised break in the drums, the more reserved instrumentation soars through extended notes, blurring the lines between synths and guitars in his warm production. Twinkling beauty from end to end, the true star of the show is Addley’s vocals, which wrap the listener in pensive emotion, capturing in an intense balance of optimism and pain.
The artist explains the track, sharing, “‘Take Me Home’ is about the feeling you get at the end of the night when the lights turn on and people start separating into different groups with different plans and you’d do anything to prolong the night. It’s about dealing with loneliness and desire in an often unsuccessful and unhealthy way.”
