Runrummer embarks on a dreamy journey in ‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’

Setting herself on an upward path for 2024, Runrummer’s return has excited tastemakers across the industry, reigniting an anticipation that originally emerged as far back as 2018. Constantly lauded as one to watch and awarded the coveted PRS Foundation ‘Women Make Music’ Award, Runrummer looks ahead to her debut album Elevator’s release later this year.

After making an exciting comeback with ‘Not Quite Over You’ earlier this year, Runrummer has now unveiled a new single ‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’, a playful and glittered journey through painful emotions. The blend of shimmering indie pop aesthetics and wistful feelings sits beneath layers of vocals that switch between near-spoken word verses, angelic vocalisations and dreamy chorus melodies. Topped with fragile but empowered synth arpeggios, rhythmic bass lines and star-studded countermelodies, the danceable melancholy continues to be a refreshing and unique sound.

Runrummer adds, “‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’ is a song about falling for your best friend; thinking that you’re both on the same page and then coming to the realisation that they just don’t feel the same way, and you will be left forever longing for a love which cannot be”.
