After spending years engaging in the social media game to showcase their music, the Rock band Moan Barrow made a bold move. In 2024, the group made the decision to delete all their social media accounts and remove their music from all streaming services, opting to keep their elusive Rock music solely on YouTube.
Brian Jones, a founding member of the group, explained, “We realized that the time we were spending on social media could be better utilized for creating music.” The band felt relieved to step away from the pressure of artificiality and recognized that the vast competition on platforms like Spotify, which sees 100,000 new tracks added daily, was not a significant threat.
They chose to stop paying publishing fees to Tune Core and instead share their music freely on YouTube, posting it according to their own preferences. You might have come across some of their YouTube Shorts that are currently being circulated to promote their music. If you’re curious about their whereabouts, you can exclusively find them on YouTube @moanbarrow or visit their 100% free WIX website at moanbarrowproducti.wixsite.com/moan-barrow.
