Colorado is fighting one hazard after another.
A snowstorm came as a relief to firefighters battling excessive fires. But the few houses that survived are having to contend with another threat, now. Homeowners are literally moving from fire to ice.
In less than 48 hours after fleeing from a firestorm, residents of Louisville and Superior, have come home to meet a heap of snow and almost zero temperature. They are having to contend with frozen pipes, water damages, and other problems.
It would seem that the snow came a bit too late, as it would have been better if the snow came in a few days earlier. As many as 1,000 homes were destroyed after a wildfire roared through dried grasses and into the 2 Colorado suburbs.

With several homes still without power and gas, homeowners had to contend with 10inches of snow. Residents had to take evasive action to drain pipes, create space for water heaters, and scramble got waters. Families on vacation had to plead with other families on ground to help shut off the water and open taps to prevent flood.
In more bad news, law enforcement officials mentioned that there could be certain casualties from the incident. Currently, there are no reports of deaths, however there are two people believed to be missing.
“Snow will make things very difficult, but we are trying our best to make things work. We would go above and beyond to find the missing persons,” said Jennifer Churchill, a spokeswoman for Boulder County.

The identity of the missing persons are currently held by authorities. However, family members claim that one of them is 91 year old, Nadine Turnbull.
More than 10,000 households around Boulder were left without natural gas and power. According to the local utility provider, Xcel Energy, electricity will be fixed soon, however the natural gas will take up to two weeks.
“This is hard and very disappointing,” said Alli Bowdey, a nurse in Louisville. She is living with her family, and relatives. In addition, her husband tested positive for covid-19, and had to be quarantined in a hotel.
“We are tired and in complete disbelief as to what happened. There are still so many uncertainties and unknowns and it is making me worried,” she said.
