Receiving support from Spotify editorials Hot New Bands, Shockwave, and A Breath of Fresh Eire and lauded by a range of indie press, The Cliffords carry an energy that has become enticing to both fans and tastemakers. Selling out shows across Ireland in the cities of Dublin, Galway, Limerick, and Cork the band embrace a sense of romanticised heartbreak in their alternative sound.
In the lead-up to their latest release, the band have seen some of the biggest successes to date. Singles ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’, ‘If The Shoe Fits’ and ‘Feels Like A Man’ shone a light on the sonic maturity of the band, with a unique feel to each of the tracks. Now, the band has unveiled ‘Strawberry Scented’, their debut EP. In addition to the teasers, The Cliffords introduces audiences to two new tracks, ‘Second Skin’ and ‘Shattered Glass’. Across the board, the band hold a subtle pain, pouring emotion into each element of the arrangement. From the delicate guitar melody that opens the project to the all-encompassing climax of the final track, The Cliffords show they deserve recognition.
The band shares a comment on the EP, “‘Strawberry Scented’ is the soundtrack to our shared experience as vibrant, maturing, and unapologetically Irish youth. We wrote these songs to capture the complexities of love, heartbreak, and the self-reflective nature of our generation. What started as a bit of fun became a familial bond between musicians devoted to writing songs that we adore, even if they are a bit sad sometimes.”
