Hi Ygtheboy! Great to speak with you. So to get started, what was your thought process behind starting your own music?
When making music there is a certainly creative thought process as the goal is to put together a record that is trending in the industry and what would reach interest with fans all over the world.
Having a creative talent-based on criteria the thought process is what is going to separate your talent and creative skills as a musician. This is going to create your own sound as the goal is to be different than most musicians.
Can you open up a bit about your music and career? We’d love for our platform to learn more about your work.
My music career has been becoming successful. Having marketing that you have to use with each project and your goal is to be as effective as you can while promoting your music.
I plan on coming out with an album by 2025. I am currently an unsigned artist. I am working on many label placements and collaborations with other hip hop artists.
Theres always going to be music on the way and I am planning on releasing a music video for “Flexin”. Theres a-lot of music and content coming for all the music fans out here. There is nothing I appreciate more than my fans.
What first got you into music?
What first got me into music was when I was at a young age at about 15 and I remember listening to Lil Wayne and hearing auto-tune rap. This inspired me to a high-level.
All I wanted to do after listening every song that was out, all I wanted to do was write music and start my journey into the industry.
Being Inspired by DJ Khaled at a young age gave Ygtheboy versatile mindset starting into music production at the age of 16 years old. “All We Do Is Win” a popular record released in 2010 by DJ Khaled, encouraged Ygtheboy to start his music career as a producer in 2015.
Who inspired you to make music?
Who first got me into music was in 2016. I had met up with a producer from school who just recently made a project with Coke Boy Records with Chinx called “Match It” , Producer Austin Powerz Collaborating with Leeonthebeats and WeTheBest Records co-producing “Pop That” by French Montana
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
The music that I typically create is a Hip Hop / Rap , Drill , Trap style. The genre of Rap and Hip Hop really influences me to create as much as I can especially with all these new 808 Bass that has been popular lately.
While writing to this genre, Rnb can be made with Drill music, which is a direction I would like to take my music to go to.
What is your creative process like?
As I create my music I do lots of free-styling when writing out my songs. It’s important to have soul rhythm that is on beat and is on musical key as the song is being created. My process into constructing a melody is based on how the beat is produced. There are types of beats that most musicians are creating to make their songs more appealing and sounding.
What is the latest song that you released?
The latest song I have out is called Flexin that I made in 2023. This song was produced by Double Z, as I was working on writing this song for months before coming up with the right ideas to create it.
Flexin has been moving up on the charts and had hit the internet as lots of new collaborations are following the releasing this song.
There has been over 200,000 views on distribution platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Soundcloud & many more streaming services.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
If Im going to be opening up a show for an artist I would have to choose Yeat because I definitely feel like my music fits best with his sound and performance. An opportunity like this would compelled every dream I ever had growing up while writing my music. Yeat has been a big sensation and Influence with writing and basing trending-music in the industry.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
My messege I would like to give to my fans is no matter how easy things are you always have to work harder to achieve yourself your goals. Having this opportunity to make music that is based on my life is a blessing and an accomplishment that I could never take back on myself and my career.
Its amazing that my fans are listening, its definitely worth the wait to hear songs what Im going to be releasing within the future.
I want to become more involved with my fans and have a fan base that I can connect to with over social media.
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
I definitely sing in the shower. Who doesn’t? The shower is a relaxing relief after a long day at work. Wouldn’t you agree?
The song I like enjoy while singing in the shower is “Drip Too Hard” by Lil Baby & Gunna. This is the song that comes to mind my mind when getting in the shower because of all the popularity it has brought hiphop. I sang this song everyday when it had dropped in 2018.
What is your favorite song to perform?
My Favorite song to perform is “Flexin”. I know my fans are going to appreciate this song. Theres alot of energy that I put into this project. This song is what is going to get the crowd hyped up for when they come to a show. There has been alot of work inside the making of “Flexin” that was recently released in 2023.
This is a song fans will enjoy for many years to come. It is just what you want to hear. It’s definitely something Im proud of my team for collaborating on with me.
Which famous musicians do you admire?
Musicians I admire go back to Old-School Hiphop in the 1990’s & 2000’s, Run DMC, The Sugarhill Gang, and G-Unit, to the latest Hiphop released in 2010 to now, Drake, Eminem, and DJ Khaled.
More current Artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Tecca, & Travis Scott are mostly my main selection when listening to music today.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
The Best advice I was given was from Famous Rnb songwriter, Choyce Cincere, telling me “Never to give up on your Dreams”.
This was the best advice because theres always hard situations most people go through, as a musician it’s important to stay focused and have an open minded attitude.
You have to work as hard as you can in life in order to get where you want to be and thats what it is going to take to get there.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? What’s next for you?
This year is going to be a successful one as my brand is on its rise, theres many new artists that want to work out here, I am interested in working with a-lot of artists from all around the world.
Im going to be working a Drill-Style Feature that could be dropping by this summer.
Currently, I have songs planned to release later in the year. This year I’m going to be working on my clothing line and merchandise for my fans to enjoy. All my social media platforms are going
to be ultimately for fans to explore content and I’ll have a blog coming out for fans to comment and post by next year.
