Following the release of their highly praised debut album ‘I CAN’T EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH’, which established them as one of the more exciting names to have emerged that year, London trio, by way of Bologna, Italy, Husky Loops have now returned to deliver their long-awaited new EP ‘ultrarama’.
‘ultrarama’ (ultra = beyond, rama = vision, sight) is a triptych of songs swaying all in extremely different directions, beyond, further, and more unapologetic than we’ve ever been. Bombs being dropped, distant letters read on distorted tape loops, uplifting ravey choruses. It is the result of directed experimentation and reinvention of our sound, on themes of illusion, innocence, impact. The result is hectic and raw and represents perfectly where we’re going sonically. ultrarama is “beyond vision”.
Led up by the new single ‘Again Replay’, this new three track collection looks to reintroduce the trio with more of that broad and innovative approach so many fell in love with when they first broke through. Brimming with fresh and adventurous textures from start to finish, they are picking up almost exactly where they left off.
Speaking about the new release, the band’s Danio said, “When I pause for a second and think about all the reasons why I started making music in the first place, “ultrarama” is what being in Husky Loops should feel like. It’s not about pleasing others or fitting to a format: I am writing music that satisfies the need inside me of expressing something real, without overthinking it. We are making the art we want to listen to, the music that can fill the gap between our imagination and what comes out of the speakers. And if no one cares… we do, and that’s the point. We value caring, free flow, curiosity. No social media will change this mindset as our inspiration makes us confident and able to become what we desire to be.”
