Runrummer shares infectious alt-pop in new single ‘Not Quite Over You’

Returning in 2024 to support from Spotify’s lead ‘New Music Friday’ playlist, Runrummer is making a defining comeback. Previous support from BBC Introducing, the PRS Foundation and Kitsuné Musique have come alongside performances at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and publication tastemaker attention.

Her new single ‘Not Quite Over You’ is the first look into Runrummer’s debut album Elevator, set for release at the tail end of this year, and showcases a gorgeous balance of melancholic songwriting and glistening musical arrangements. Built on a foundation of a romance loved and lost, Runrummer brings twinkling synths, pounding drums and sunny electric guitar chords. Golden from the very first moment, Runrummer’s playful sound is as simply infectious as it is unique, bringing nostalgia and a good-natured attitude to her alt-pop sensibilities.

Runrummer shares, “‘Not Quite Over You’ is a song about heartache for a relationship gone wrong; when you love someone irrevocably but the feeling is unrequited. Now the partner has moved on to someone else but you can’t understand what they have that you couldn’t provide, and you can’t for the life of you get over it. Inspired by the sounds of Fleetwood Mac, drawing similarities particularly in the chorus vocal harmonies, the song is also evocative of boygenius, Phoebe Bridges and Shura, with a vocal tone reminiscent of La Roux.”
