Hi Guys, it’s a pleasure to chat with you today, please introduce yourselves and where you’re from?
Hi guys, it’s a great pleasure to meet you too. Our names are Patrizio Mattei, Danny Omich and Andrea Prezioso. I (Danny) and Patrizio come from a small town in the province of Rome (IT) called Santa Marinella, while Andrea was born in Rome. The 3 of us together we are the group called Re-Tide, while Mattei & Omich is made up of Danny and Patrizio. We all work in 3 big Italian national radio stations that are different in musical style and format, and this also allows us to work with music continuously at 360°.
How did you first get into producing dance music?
Patrizio and I started producing in 2003 and our first official single was released in 2004 under another pseudonym.
Meanwhile, Andrea has been producing for many years before us and has a much broader musical background.
You are all radio DJs, is this how you all met?
Patrizio and I (Danny) have known each other since we were 10 years old, while we got to know Andrea since 2008 when he started to work with us at Radio Capital.
What’s it like working at a big radio station?
As we always say, working at a big radio station is the best job in the world for people like us who live off music.
Who did you listen to growing up and do they influence your productions at all today?
Danny: One of the artists who influenced me most was Michael Jackson, especially for his creativity and being a total artist.
Patrizio and Andrea: In 2008 we were working for Radio Capital with the Capital Party show. This program is still going on air every Saturday night from 8pm to midnight and it is about Disco music. This kind of music inspired us to dive in the underground scene from 70’s to present day.
What was your first collaborative release?
Re-Tide “The Break is A Delight” was our first big collaboration, and it reminds us of a particularly happy period of time.
Your new collaboration with Katy Alex, ‘Give Me Your Love EP’, has just dropped on Fool’s Paradise, what can you tell us about the release?
Whilst we were over in London, we went to the studio together with our musician Stefano Donato to create some ideas to present to Mark Knight and his crew. They liked the ideas and we met Katy Alex directly there. She added her amazing voice to the instrumentals and the magic came out. The EP contains two original funky Disco House singles, ‘Give Me Your Love’ and ‘Work It Out’.
How did you link up with Katy and will you be working together again in the future?
We were introduced to Katy through Mark Knight, who thought that our combination of talents would produce something fantastic, and so it was, at least from our point of view! Hehe! We really like Katy as an artist and would like to collaborate again in the future.
Who else would you like to collaborate with?
If we talk about artists who have made the history of House Music, a special collaboration would be with the one with Louie Vega.
Which is your favourite own Mattei & Omich production or remix so far?
We have several, but perhaps “Doors” featuring Nathan Nicholson is the one we are most attached to, especially for the lyrics: “This Life Is Beautiful”.
And which is your favourite own Re-Tide production or remix so far?
It has to be “Piano Lover”, which is the perfect mix between funk and house.
Which aspect of being an artist do you love the most – producing or Djing?
We equally love either producing our music or playing it to the public. Seeing that it is appreciated is the greatest satisfaction.
What has been your biggest musical triumph and your biggest learning curve?
We think it is to always focus everything on musical quality and not on everything else that revolves around it as many have done in recent years, because in the end what really makes the difference is the musical product.
Which are your top 3 tunes of the moment?
Danny: Maybe “Happier” by The Blessed Madonna is the song that brings all the people together who also have different musical tastes.
Patrizio: Jay Vegas is one of the hottest producers right now. I love all of his productions.

What can we expect from a typical Mattei & Omich or Re-Tide DJ set?
Re-Tide is our Disco and Funk project, as is our dj set. We have a party in Rome on the boat on river Tiber with only Disco and NuDisco sounds every Saturday night and it is a lot of fun. A Mattei & Omich dj set has a different sound, which is more housey and clubby.
