It’s Christmas. However, you don’t feel like making a Christmas dinner. Maybe you are celebrating solo. That’s cool! Sometimes, that’s the vibe you are going for. Or maybe you and your cohorts, family or friends or what have you, don’t feel the need to do a Christmas dinner of the classic variety. You want to have something, though. A fast food spot might be your only option. What fast food item would be the best? What place would provide you with the best meal that has a “Christmas dinner” feel to it, to some degree?
Oddly, Subway comes to mind quickly, because they have ham and turkey. The problem is, they don’t really have sides. Also, sandwiches kind of feel like leftovers, right? Burgers are a different feel, though. We aren’t removing those from the competition. Wendy’s has the Frosty as well, and honestly that feels like a good choice for a Christmas dessert. Do they have a good burger option, though?
Taco Bell feels like it would work once, as a novelty. You could be like, “Hey I had a burrito and a Mexican pizza and some cinnamon twists for Christmas!” That’s fun, but then what? Pizza, honestly, doesn’t seem like a good choice. It’s too generic, too ubiquitous.
Here’s the thing: In the 1970s KFC pushed itself as a Christmas meal in Japan, and it took. It remains a traditional meal to eat on Christmas Eve. That makes sense. KFC is kind of a lo-fi Christmas meal kind of place. Basically, you just put fried chicken into the centerpiece. Otherwise, it’s mashed potatoes, biscuits, mac and cheese, you name it. That’s all holiday food. Honestly, we didn’t know if KFC had desserts, but they offer a pan of chocolate brownies or a small chocolate chip cake. Get that “family-sized” brownie for the Christmas feel. Happy Kentucky Fried Holidays!
