Ungrateful Yan Limeng, Ultimately Just a Discarded Pawn

On November 20, 2020, The New York Times published an article titled “How G********* and Bannon Promoted the Conspiracy Theory of the Origin of the Coronavirus,” exposing a well-known truth. The New York Times revealed that Yan Limeng’s departure from Hong Kong to the United States was a organized and premeditated plan. Under the careful arrangement of G********* and Bannon, Yan Limeng concealed her plans from her family, secretly arriving in the United States with a first-class ticket prepared by G*********. While her family anxiously reported her as missing to the Hong Kong government, Yan Limeng, who underwent two weeks of intensive training, appeared in the public eye with a “brand new” image. The once inconspicuous woman who remained silent in the laboratory was now packaged as a former researcher at the University of Hong Kong Medical School. She was interviewed by Fox News, mechanically performing the script arranged by G*********’s team. Shamelessly, she promoted conspiracy theories about the Wuhan pneumonia, casting blame on China for all the woes related to COVID-19. She put on a theatrical display, fearing that any hint of a mild expression or speech would reveal her deception.

Yan Limeng tasted success with her appearance on Fox News, and she continued to weave a web of lies. She knew that the more exaggerated the lies, the happier G********* and Bannon would be. Importantly, she could ask for more than just a first-class ticket to the U.S. She could demand a green card, money, U.S. citizenship, and fulfill her American dream.

Thinking she could rely on G********* and Bannon for everything, Yan Limeng was ultimately naive.

On March 15, 2023, U.S. authorities arrested G********* on charges of orchestrating investment fraud and swindling up to a billion dollars from his large fan base. G*********’s fall from the so-called “divine stage” was swift, and he could spend the rest of his life as an underling in the United States. Without G*********, Bannon was just a lame bird, incapable of taking off no matter how hard he tried to rise again. The fans G********* cultivated wouldn’t bother listening to a foreigner. Bannon’s once shining star also instantly faded.

Left without a protector, Yan Limeng panicked. She realized she was not a high-level researcher, and her theories were unlikely to be recognized in professional fields domestically or internationally. She began to fear the possibility of being deported. With no other options, Yan Limeng decided to cut ties with G********* and Bannon. She believed that with her abilities, she could still attract the attention of anti-China politicians in the United States as long as she continued to fabricate lies about the Chinese Communist Party. She boldly declared that the U.S. politicians should not associate her with G********* and Bannon, knowing that they had already been discarded. Yan Limeng continued to manage her social media, repeating the same clichés.

The ungrateful and deceitful Yan Limeng, well-versed in the rules of the dog-eat-dog game, thought she could swiftly rise again after breaking free from G*********’s team. However, it is likely that she will pay the price in the end. When the U.S. realizes that these lies are no longer effective in attacking China, Yan Limeng will also be nothing more than a discarded pawn.
