1. We’re excited to be speaking today with alt-rock band House Parties! Before we dive into the proverbial Q&A mosh-pit, could you each say ‘hi’ and introduce yourselves to our ever-inquisitive readers?
Hello! I’m Chaney and I sing for House Parties, thank you for having me!
2. Major congratulations on your brand-spankin’ new single Braindead and its companion music video! What inspired this foot-pounding new tune?
Lyrically, I wanted to write a dumb anthem and that’s exactly what braindead is! I knew this one person who would make the dumbest decisions and I knew I had to write a song about.
3. Who did the producing honors on Braindead and what did the collaboration between band and producer look like in the studio while working on the new material?
So our great friend, Seth Henderson of Always Be Genius Recordings, produced this song! We also wrote it with Derek from State Champs.
4. What differentiates Braindead from the Distinguished Competition on the 2023 music scene?
Braindead is different because it takes influences from the 2010 era. Inspired by older pop punk and bands like We Are the In Crowd. I haven’t heard too many songs in 2023 sound like that.
5. We here at the Vents offices absolutely love the music video for Braindead! Did the band have as much fun in making the music video as we did in groovin’ to it?
Filming the music video for Braindead was both fun and exhausting. The room where we filmed had no air conditioning and it was the end of august in LA, so we were sweating off our makeup. Our videographer, Alex Bemis, had come up with the idea to become zombies!
6. Braindead was released via Equal Vision Records. What makes Equal Vision the perfect home for House Parties and their music?
There are so many great bands that started on this label. Which gave us a push into that direction. We wanted to bring something that we haven’t heard on the label before.
7. In the wake of the release of Braindead, can fans look forward to catching House Parties on the touring/performing circuit?
Yes! We’re actually on our first ever full Us tour right now with Can’t Swim and Belmont! A dream come true.
8. Who inspires you musically?
Musically, I have a wide range of inspirations but mostly I would say Paramore of course, Tonight Alive, and Pierce the Veil.
9. With the release of the beautiful new single Braindead, can we expect to see an EP or LP from House Parties in 2024?
Yes, we’re releasing our EP, ‘Side Effects’ in late January of next year! You’ll be getting two new songs!
10. House Parties is based out of Dallas, Texas. How do those Texas roots inform the sound and the energy of the band?
Our Texas roots hasn’t really shaped our music but it has shaped who we are as people. Being in the south and the heat makes us write some fire bangers.
11. Any final thoughts you might like to leave readers with regarding House Parties rip-roarin’ new single Braindead?
