Dr. Krissy Jones: Keeping Low-Income Families and Children Out of Poverty with Philanthropy

Dr. Krissy Jones cannot find enough ways to help people.

Her philanthropic spirit began in health and social care, where a position as a care manager became her first promise to aid the underserved. The education industry began calling to announce a road less traveled, but lecturing in the hallowed halls of academia was not the preferred higher education she yearned to provide.

This path eventually led her into training and her official entry into entrepreneurship. Dr. Jones created two training companies from the ground up, with one growing to £11 million in under two years from a £2,000 loan – a percentage growth of almost 550,000%.

During the height of uncertainty posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jones successfully grew a retail business. She kick-started the enterprise with $60,000 from selling her car, and the business went on to achieve an impressive $11 million ROI within two years. This exponential growth is the impetus to take the brand international.

BUT her philanthropic pursuits could overshadow all of this.

When It Matters Most

Dr. Jones is a philanthropist with a passion for helping families and children in need, those surviving in poverty. According to the World Bank, about 9.2% of the world, or 719 million people, live on less than $2.15 a day. She wants to help people meet their basic needs for food, shelter, clothing, and other essentials.

Dr. Jones serves as a volunteer board member for two charities. One of these charities focuses on providing support to terminally ill adults, babies, and children. In addition to her board role, she holds the position of secretary in this same charity.

The second board position is at a nonprofit dedicated to supporting disadvantaged women and mothers by making educational initiatives, donations, and mentoring programs available. As a board member, she offers guidance and practical help across a range of activities, including accounting, fundraising, entrepreneurship, and strategic planning.

According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), an estimated 75,518 people experienced homelessness in Los Angeles County in 2023. Of these, more than 20,000 were provided with shelter. Unsheltered homelessness increased 14% from 2022 to 2023.

Philanthropy In Action

Dr. Jones is motivated to make a difference in the world. Philanthropy is about giving what you have to those with less, without expecting reciprocity in return. Giving for the sake of. While some donate money to charities or nonprofits, Dr. Krissy Jones starts her own charities. Others volunteer their time to causes they care about, while she becomes the epicenter for help and rescue for so many.

The Trilogy Trust Foundation plays a vital role in supporting families living in poverty and struggling financially. The organization’s goal is to prevent homelessness by providing grants and aid to cover bills and rent. The foundation also offers assistance – whether it’s financial support or practical help like mentoring – to individuals seeking education, employment, or the opportunity to start a business.

The unhoused population in Los Angeles is diverse, but there are commonalities that contribute to homelessness, such as poverty, lack of affordable housing, mental illness, substance abuse, and domestic violence. While the city of Los Angeles has taken steps to address homelessness, including providing mental health and substance abuse services and creating new homeless shelters, private support is still needed.

This is where The Trilogy Trust Foundation, Los Angeles has the ability to make a huge difference, aided by the tireless philanthropy of Dr. Krissy Jones.
