Hoobastank’s sophomore album The Reason, which included the massive single of the same name, is set to celebrate 20 years this December. To celebrate this milestone, Hoobastank will be performing the album in its entirety at an intimate show in Los Angeles, CA on December 11th at The Echo. The anniversary will also be celebrated with a special edition vinyl, including reimagined album artwork. The forest green vinyl includes a never-before-heard cover of Rod Stewart’s iconic track “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” which was recorded in the studio at the same time of The Reason recording. The LP also contains four never-before-seen polaroids taken of the band members from 2003.
On celebrating 20 years of “The Reason,” Hoobastank vocalist Doug Robb shares “This anniversary is extra special for me. Having the album that pretty much defined our careers turn 20 years old and for us to still be able to play it for fans, old and new, is something I never dreamt of when we were recording it. This album opened so many doors and exposed us to so many fans to whom I’ve been so thankful for and still can never truly express my gratitude to. Happy birthday to a piece of music that shaped my life, personally, so much.”
In addition to the anniversary show and limited edition vinyl, Hoobastank has partnered with Soundwaves, a philanthropic foundation that creates unique pieces of art from the sound waves of songs and donates all profits of the art sales to selected charities. The revenue received from Hoobastank’s Soundwaves autographed pieces will be donated to Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, who provide financial assistance to all types of career musicians and music industry workers who are struggling to make ends meet while facing physical or mental health issues.
To date, Soundwaves has donated over $7.5M to charities by working with over 700 musicians including Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Dolly Parton, Outkast, Lil Nas X, the Avett Brothers, The Cure, P!nk and more.
