D2R Ladder Season 5 will kick off on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 2pm PDT, and it’s what most players have been waiting for.
In the new season, there will be some updates that everyone is looking forward to and will really improve the player’s experience. In this guide, we’ll take a look at some changes coming to D2R Ladder Season 5.
Select Mode
When creating a character in D2R Ladder Season 5, you can choose one of four different modes based on your preference.
- Pre-Expansion Ladder: The standard version of Ladder, containing only the original four acts.
- Pre-Expansion Hardcore Ladder: A hardcore version of Ladder that only has one life and contains only the original four acts.
- Ladder: The standard version of Ladder game, containing five acts, as it includes Lord of Destruction expansion content.
- Hardcore Ladder: A hardcore version of Ladder, containing five acts and having only one life.
Once D2R Ladder Season 4 ends, all ladder characters will be moved to their respective Non Ladder groups. We can put these unique D2R Ladder Items into a withdrawal-only shared storage tab.
Please note, however, that Season 3 items that remain in the Withdrawal Only tab will be lost. So be sure to take out all D2R Ladder Items for sale you want to keep before Season 5 begins.
Expected New Changes
As the new Ladder Season begins, players can expect some changes to game mechanics and balance. Here are the changes we’re looking forward to in D2R Ladder Season 5.
Loot Filter
The first one is Loot Filter we need. Because the number of Diablo 2 Resurrected ladder season 5 items displayed on the screen at the same time is limited. Therefore, when you reach or exceed that limit, no additional items will be displayed.
Therefore, the emergence of a Loot Filter can help players understand all the items they own more intuitively, thereby improving farming efficiency.

Expand Terror Zones
Most people love Terror Zones, so developers can continue to expand and solidify Terror Zones to keep players in the game longer. And it should increase some lackluster zone monster density values in Terror Zones.
Class Changes
Season 5 could introduce many class changes to improve the balance of the game. For example, Barbarian’s Whirlwind skill now breaks physical immunity.
New Runewords & Items
New Runewords will be introduced this season, bringing more class meta and new builds. Season 5 will also introduce new items, with new unique items for each class.

Next, don’t forget to set goals for the new season. Whether it’s reaching a specific level, completing a specific challenge, earning specific D2R Ladder Season 5 items or having clear goals will give you direction and motivation.
Then find popular and effective builds for your chosen character class. You can try different builds and find one that suits your play style. Knowing your build in advance will give you an advantage when D2R Ladder Season 5 begins.
Also, plan your build upgrade strategy. Identify the most efficient routes and areas to level up quickly. Identify early on the key skills and gear you need to optimize your leveling experience.
