There’s a renaissance underway in the world of hotel interior design. The catalyst? High-end Italian furniture brands. By importing these exquisite furnishings, hoteliers are changing the face of hospitality, creating spaces that encapsulate luxury, comfort, and the inimitable style of Italian design. The impact is significant, transforming hotels from mere accommodations to destination experiences.
Some key players in this arena have been hospitality chains you may not have expected.
Marriott hotels, for example, use a highly specialized importer of Italian furnishings. W Hotels also features Italian-designed accessories and pieces in their suites and common areas.
Several hotels in Las Vegas use beds, tables and chairs, all sources from Italy, as well as in the Caribbean, the Cayman Islands and Aruba, where they lay on the La Dolce Vita experience for their guests.
There is a reason so many well-known hotels and resorts embrace the Italian look. Italy is recognized as a worldwide trendsetter and leader in design. And the architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni boldly claimed, “Quite simply, we are the best.”
Javier Cassoni, the CEO of Cassoni Furniture and Accessories, couldn’t agree more. He supplies some of the most well-known hotel groups and luxury resorts across the Americas with high-end Italian furniture brands.
He says: “Our designs are synonymous with luxury. I ensure every item we import marries superior craftsmanship with luxurious materials to produce stunning pieces that evoke opulence,” he says.
Mr Cassoni adds that by integrating these elements into their design scheme, hotels elevate their aesthetic appeal: “Lobbies furnished with plush Italian sofas and lounges adorned with elegant lighting fixtures create an atmosphere of sophistication. This touch of luxury is visually pleasing and makes a bold statement about the hotel’s commitment to providing a top-tier experience.”
Italian design is also steeped in the philosophy of La Dolce Vita, the sweet life that celebrates beauty and comfort: “Importing high-end Italian furniture allows hotels to bring this lifestyle to their guests,” reveals Mr Cassoni.
“Chic, comfortable seating areas encourage leisurely conversations, while well-designed, functional rooms promote relaxation. This Italian-inspired approach shifts the focus from mere accommodation to an immersive lifestyle experience, attracting discerning travelers who seek more than just a bed for the night.”
There is also something very unique about Italian furnishings that allows hotels to look and feel different: “It’s an increasingly competitive market, and hotels always look for ways to differentiate themselves,” says Mr Cassioni.
“High-end Italian furniture brands offer a means to do just that. Each piece of furniture is unique, often handcrafted and bearing the signature style of the artisan. Hotels can create a distinctive identity that sets them apart by selecting pieces that align with their brand image.”
For the hoteliers, featuring Italian luxury furniture sends a clear message: the resort values quality, appreciates beauty, and is committed to providing an exceptional guest experience.
There is also the environmental factor that has to be considered. In the 21st Century, sustainability has become a watchword for design of all kinds.
Mr Cassoni says many high-end Italian brands are at the forefront of sustainable design, utilizing eco-friendly materials and sustainable manufacturing processes: By importing these brands for the hotels, we enable them to not only enrich their aesthetics but also align with the growing demand for sustainability in the hospitality industry,” he says.
“This commitment to sustainable luxury is a compelling selling point, particularly for the growing number of travelers who prioritize environmental responsibility.”
He adds: “By embracing Italian luxury furniture, hotels are not just changing their interior aesthetics; they’re redefining what it means to provide a luxurious home away from home. The hotel is no longer just a place to sleep – an immersive experience that offers a taste of the sweet life, the Italian way.”
Mr Gianni is the CEO of Swan Italy SRL and has known Mr Cassoni for over 20 years: “Javier comes from a family dedicated to the Italian top-end furniture industry for three generations.
“He generates an immediate empathy that allows him to be immediately friendly and highly professional. He has always shown courtesy, respect, kindness, and professionalism.”
Last year Swan Italy SRL celebrated its 60th anniversary, and Mr Gianni says he apportions some of that success to Mr Cassoni: “He is part of our family now. Javier’s company supports us and helps with a gorgeous service to clients.”
