Hailing from Milan, the now London based singer-songwriter and producer Veronica has gone from strength to strength since 2021. Her live performances captivate listeners, supporting the likes of Lina Makoul, Michael Malarkey, and David Keenan. Intricate harmonies bring her songs to life while her self-produced signature sound embraces a dreaminess that she has full creative control over.
Veronica has recently released her second EP of 2023, ‘Just A Dream’ featuring new track ‘As Dancers’ as well as previously released singles ‘The Lake Of The Dead’ and the title track. Through this project Veronica paints a vivid story, enticing you from the start with eerie strings and uncomfortable piano melodies in ‘As Dancers’. Her vocals are ever enticing, with expansive harmonies creating a sort of second soul to the artist, changing the emotion of the lead vocal, supporting it and contrasting it at the same time. There are moments of incredible orchestral instrumentation, and elements of pure aura, with thin instrumentation, truly making the project cinematic in scale.
Veronica explains, “This EP is a collection of stories inspired by my experiences in dreams and real-life, all intricately woven together by a sense of bittersweetness. Through these melodies, we delve into the poignant recognition that certain chapters of our lives must inevitably conclude, while also exploring the profound interconnectedness of souls and the vast expanse of the universe.
Each song encapsulates moments that made me feel a profound connection not just to this world but also to other ethereal realms. It’s as if a touch of magic flows through me, as well as everyone around. With these songs, we embrace the boundless potential to shift and shape the experiences we yearn for, understanding that our destinies are not fixed but rather malleable to our desires.”
This is an artist that will not stay unknown for long, with her works creating moments that few artists can capture. Despite the 12-minute runtime, this EP feels like a full experience, leaving all who listen anxious for what Veronica might bring to the table next.
