“We’re excited to be speaking today with acclaimed UK-based songstress Rose Flor. Greetings and salutations, Rose! Before we embark on this Q&A musical journey, how has the summer of ’23 been treating you?
Good day, and it’s very nice to be here. The summer of ’23 has been amazing. I’ve been so busy recording. The songs were written and produced by John Dixon of NWA Muzic. The experience of recording my debut album has been incredible.
Major congratulations on the August 1 release of your freshly-minted new album, ‘I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Life With You’! What served as the inspiration behind this beautiful new LP?
It’s always been a dream to record an album. NWA Muzic had written 12 beautiful songs with mixed genres and were looking for the right vocalist to record the songs. When I heard the initial recordings, I loved them and wanted to take it further, so I sent sample recordings of my voice. I was so excited when I was chosen as their vocalist. NWA Muzic has inspired me so much on this journey.
‘I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Life With You’ is made up of twelve gorgeous tracks. Did anything not make the cut for this new album that we might hear on another album or future single?
Yes, we’ve already started on the next album, and to date, we’ve recorded 6 songs with the music written for another 6.
Who was your producer on ‘I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Life With You’, and what did the collaboration between the artist and producer look like in the studio?
John Dixon is the songwriter and producer. We collaborated on the music and vocals, with me adding additional vocal phrases and suggesting different lyrics. I have a great relationship with the producer, and we always seem to end up with a song we are both proud of.
How is ‘I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Life With You’ similar to some of your past music? How is it different?
Before my debut album, I was doing covers. The songs written and sent over to me are very melodic, and I find it easy to add the required vocals for the finishing touches. We have had a good response so far on all the songs we put on social media platforms. I have sung different genres from what I am used to on some of the songs but enjoyed the experience.
On the heels of the release of the new LP, can fans look forward to catching you on the touring-performing circuit?
The recording has taken up a lot of my time, but I’m still doing local gigs. We plan to do a small tour early next year.
Who inspires you musically?
I started singing at an early age and had full support from my parents. I sang in churches, public places, and at home. At the age of 6, I was singing on stage at local talent shows. Whitney Houston is and always will be my biggest inspiration. It was her song ‘One Moment in Time’ which was the first song I ever sang in front of a big audience.
You originally hailed from The Philippines and are now based in Manchester, UK. How do those roots inform you as an artist and as a person?
As an artist, recording the album has given me more confidence and self-determination in my career. Like the UK, in the Philippines, music is the ‘language of the soul.’ I sometimes miss the Philippines and feel sad about not being with my family, but listening and performing give me the strength to carry on and make me happy, calm, and relaxed.
What differentiates ‘I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Life With You’ from the Distinguished Competition on the 2023 music scene?
The songs I have recorded are very melodic. As I say, we are getting a good response from social media platforms. As my producer keeps telling me, songs you can sing along to! Today’s music is different, I know, but we do reach a dedicated audience in over 82 countries.
You appeared some time back on the competition series ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ Did that appearance introduce you to a whole new audience?
Yes, I did and really enjoyed it. I got to the final stages and learned a lot from the experience. It’s a great show, and I met lots of talented artists. I also participated in some talent shows in the Philippines and got to the final stages. I have a lot of followers who are interested in my progression in the music industry.
At the end of the day, what do you hope listeners walk away with after giving many spins to your new album ‘I Wanna Spend the Rest of My Life With You’?
The songs are so well produced, which makes it easy to add the vocals. As I’ve mentioned, I sing with emotion and passion. I love these 12 songs and ask listeners to check them out on social media platforms or even listen on my live Facebook streams.”
