What or who would you consider one of your main inspirations for music and why?
“Nowadays, it seems like a lot of country music is taking itself too seriously, including ourselves as independent singer-songwriters. So, we were looking for an outlet to simply have a little fun, and felt like everybody else could use some of that same ‘party-tonk’ therapy too. We’re 2 good friends getting together, writing together, and performing together for a damn good time!” -Barefoot Joe
Let’s talk about your single – so fun. When does it officially release and where did the idea come from?
“Redneck Style will be available on September 14! Sometimes a good guitar lick can make a song write itself. I co-wrote this song with Dakota Jay & Seth Dobbs while sitting around thinkin’ up redneck stuff. We quickly laid down the track, pitched it, but found no takers. Barefoot stumbled upon the track and was like ‘What are ya’ll doin’ with that one?’. He loved Redneck Style; it was his jam! So, we got into the studio and recut it, breathing new life into the song. It really went to the next level when we collaborated with American Idol icon, Blake Lewis. You know him? The beatboxer! Blake reproduced the track, bringing the energy up to 1000…something we coined as ‘party-tonk’ music.
We heard you all may have a dance to accompany the new release – we can’t wait. Tell us all about that!
“Well, we teamed up with our good friends at Kickin’ County Line Dancin’! The first time they heard the song, they couldn’t wait to make a line dance to it, and boy did they deliver! We will be releasing the dance in the next couple of weeks, so follow us @danjocounty, on all socials, for updates of that boot scootin’ action! “- Barefoot Joe
We love the fun vibe that Danjo is bringing. What inspired you to start as a duo?
“Danny and I have been good friends for the last few years with a mutual love for country music! We’ve spent so many countless hours collaborating, writing songs, and performing together that we were practically attached at the hip! A lot of the songs we were writing together didn’t quite fit our solo projects, and so the duo naturally took on a life of its own. But really, when we recorded Redneck Style, we knew we had somethin’ special together. The rest is history….. in the making; ‘Dan’ + ‘Joe’ became ‘DANJO’!” – Barefoot Joe
What’s next for you?
Redneck Style is our primary focus right now; there’s a lot of work ahead of us! But, we’ll be in Nashville in October to record 3 new DANJO ditties! – Danny
