Craft Syndicate, committed to nurturing emerging talents and cultivating a dynamic artistic community, recently hosted an intimate conversation featuring the artist Duo Zhang, known professionally as “Jade”. This engaging discussion marked Jade’s debut interview, offering a rare insight into her remarkable artistic journey.
From the tender age of 12, Jade delved deeply into the realm of art. When asked about her creative process, she eloquently shared, “My ideas originate from within. Art is my chosen medium for self-expression,” underscoring her dedication with the words, “Unceasing practice; my aim is to ignite inspiration through my canvases.”
Armed with a graphic design degree, she ingeniously fused her twin passions – art and gastronomy. At the age of 23, she harmoniously melded her talents to craft captivating culinary art, a display of her remarkable versatility and boundless creativity.
Among her standout creations stands an intricate cake sculpture, reminiscent of the iconic SLS Hotel sculpture in Brickell, a masterpiece that demanded two full days of meticulous work. Driven by the resounding impact of her creations, Jade confided, “They were in need of my confectionery masterpiece.” An audience member fittingly christened her the “Queen of Cakes” during the engaging Q&A session.
Jade’s conversation underscored the potency of storytelling. Her journey serves as a wellspring of inspiration, a testament to the limitless dimensions of creativity.
This event is a pivotal segment of the Craft Syndicate initiative. Be sure to mark your calendar for forthcoming Miami Craft Syndicate events, including an insightful conversation with visual artist Josh Geltzer on August 24th, followed by the Art Gallery Pop Up on Thursday, August 31st.
