Who From The Planet Express Crew Are We Hanging Out With?

Futurama is returning…again! Matt Groening’s sci-fi animated sitcom just keeps coming back in different forms. This time, the show is coming to Hulu. We’re big fans of Futurama, and we’re looking forward to seeing the Planet Express crew again. However, would we actually want to spend much time with anybody from Planet Express? Here is a ranking of the Planet Express crew in terms of how much we’d like to hang with them.

8. Zoidberg

The good doctor is not the best hang. One, you know he’s going to hit you up to pay for dinner or drinks or whatever. You can’t go to his place, unless you want to hang out in a dumpster. His knowledge of human anatomy is quite poor, and who knows how that could complicate matters as well. There’s a reason nobody at Planet Express wants to hang with Zoidberg.

7. Farnsworth

Professor Farnsworth is smart, sure, but he’s also nutty. The guy loves himself a doomsday device, and he’s basically a crackpot. Also, at his advanced age, he’s not exactly looking to hit the town, and is probably going to be asleep before you are even ready to head out.

6. Bender

Hanging out with Bender once might be fun. It would likely yield a good story. That is, if you survive. Bender is a binge-drinking, chain-smoking, partying machine. Plus, there’s a decent chance he’ll rob you, or leave you high and dry if need be.

5. Fry

Fry would be fine to hang out with. It just wouldn’t be all that interesting. He’s dumb and he’s kind of a slob. It would be like seeing an old friend from high school and quickly remembering why you stopped hanging out.

4. Hermes

Hermes can cook up some Jamaican cuisine, and if you like a little herbal refreshment, he has you covered. However, his fastidious nature might get in the way. The guy loves being a bureaucrat, and so you might be in for a rigid evening, and Hermes could get high strung on you.

3. Leela

We’ve reached the point where we don’t have clear complaints about hanging out. Leela doesn’t have any real drawbacks, but she doesn’t have many strengths either. We’d probably have a decent time, and sometimes it’s just nice to have somebody to have dinner with. Leela is good for that. Her lack of social life likely means she’s available, too.

2. Amy

Amy is the inverse of Leela, in that she seems quite busy. While she’s from Mars, and a bit of a klutz, Amy definitely seems like the most fun hang of the crew. Amy has a doctorate, so she’s smart, and also she comes from a ton of money. Money means nothing to her. Hoping somebody else will pick up the check? Go with Amy!
