Mehdi Fereydounfar, a respected 38-year-old Iranian musician, has made Germany his home for the past three years. He set foot in the world of music in 2006, enrolling in Mani Rahnama’s music school to study singing and simultaneously learn guitar to enhance his vocal prowess. “My pursuit was to establish a unique voice, rather than emulating existing ones,” Mehdi reflects. He also delved into composition and served as a baritone in a variety of choirs.
His musical journey took a transformative turn in 2011 when he began composing melodies for revered Persian poetry penned by renowned Iranian poets such as Ahmad Shamloo, Freydoon Moshiri, and Hossein Panahi.
Fast-forward a decade, and Mehdi continues on his unique musical path, most recently setting tunes to poetry by Hossein Monzavi and Rumi. “My composition choices are driven by the richness of the poetry, even if it doesn’t resonate with mainstream preferences,” Mehdi frequently emphasizes. His compositions have found their place in performances of singers around the world.
Throughout his vibrant career, Mehdi has released two impactful albums: “Picking Apples” and “Your Love.” These works, available on various international music platforms, have accrued over a million streams. His individual musical pieces, including “The Girl in the Summer Alleys,” “Parallel Love,” and “The Wall,” are readily available for listeners worldwide.
Mehdi strives to create music that resonates over time, leaving a significant impact on the global and Iranian music scenes. He envisions crafting songs that continue to delight listeners long after their initial release. His quest for musical immortality is realized through compositions inspired by enduring poetry. For Mehdi, music notes wield an expressive power equal to that of words. His body of work often marries traditional poetry and contemporary music, showcasing this synergy.
As for future plans, Mehdi is gearing up for a performance in Berlin. With extensive stage experience and the ability to charm audiences in Iran, his upcoming concert promises an unforgettable experience.
