Jem travelled from Turkey to the UK to study Contemporary Music in London, before that he studied Opera. His music combines other worldly sounds with his both western and middle eastern cultural influences. The artist has managed to build a dedicated following with this unique sound, and now focuses on more singles on the horizon.
Jem’s latest release ‘Icarus’ laces our ears with ethereal vocal harmonies that take the listener into a place of reflection, underpinned by the thoughtful lyricism and soaring main vocal performance. This is backed up with echoey, spiralling drums, distant, celestial guitars and a rising synth section. The track seems to exceed it’s three minute runtime as it is able to convey cinematic levels of tension in every area.
Jem shares, “In ‘Icarus,’ I wanted to explore the human spirit’s insatiable desire to soar beyond its limits. Like the mythical figure, we are drawn to reach for the sun, even if it means facing the consequences. This song is an ode to the boundless aspirations that drive us to take flight and discover the depths of our souls.”
