Michael Blackwell releases upbeat new single ‘Lesson Learned’

London-based Michael Blackwell grew up surrounded by the rock of the 60s, 70s and 80s, before developing his own love for 90s alt-rock and grunge. This cemented a love for both guitar and songwriting that is still at the core of his music to this day.

Michael’s latest release is the new single ‘Lesson Learned’. With layers electric guitars and energetic drums driving the track, he creates a thick texture that allows his voice to sing out over the instrumentation. Bringing together rock and pop Michael shows his love for the genre and ability to create a commercial sound.

On the new release, Michael shares, “’Lesson Learned’ is a song about coming to terms with a relationship or a time in your life that’s coming to an end, and trying to take the best from it and moving on. Whether it was good or bad there is always something to be learned from the experiences you have.”

The new release was recorded at the Old Church studios in Northumberland, alongside Michael’s long-term friend and collaborator Adam Forster, after Michael had written the song on tour. Developing the track was remote thanks to the studios location, giving the pair full concentration on their creativity.
