VENTS recently had the pleasure of interviewing electronic musician Sp8ce Owl about his brand new “Stepping Into Eternity” music video. Read the interview below!

Your psychedelic visualizer for “Stepping Into Eternity” takes viewers into a new world. What was the inspiration behind these trippy visuals?
The inspiration for the video was directly taken from the title. For the first time since when I first started doing videos, I let other people have more creative input. I recently started working with Lyric Vids, who has been doing my new visualizers. I love what they have been coming up with, but it feels strange not having most of the creative input on the content. Even though this is the case I feel their interpretations have been very much aligned what my vision is for them, and that is to feel the vastness of the universe around us.
How has your sound evolved since you started releasing music in 2017?
I feel my sound has evolved in a couple of important ways. The first, and maybe the most important, way is the growth I have made spiritually which has directly impacted how I view and make music. As I become more aware of the energies and vibrations around me, I’ve evolved more musically, paying attention to these things has made me explore possibilities that I wouldn’t have tried through other ways. Second is the different techniques I have learned over this time, which change the way that my music sounds. As I learn these new skills and apply them, it adds new complexities my music did not have before.
How is “Stepping Into Eternity” unique from other songs that you have released?
“Stepping Into Eternity” is unique from other releases because it is built around the repeating vocal. Most of my other releases have no vocals at all or minor vocals that highlight the other parts of the song. With this release the repeating vocal takes center stage building the central mood of the song. I then constructed the other parts to enhance the overall feeling I want the song to evoke.
What is your favorite part of recording EDM music?
My favorite part of making EDM music is the freedom to express yourself musically in any way that you want, and the palette of endless possibilities you have at your fingertips working with your computer.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your time in the music industry?
That you should work as hard or harder as anyone who is working with you to achieve your success.
How do you want listeners to feel when listening to “Stepping Into Eternity”?
I want listeners to feel like they are being transported to a place where they feel the vastness of the universe that surrounds us. A place where you feel connected to everything around us. Where you feel small and infinite at the same time.
Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations?
The music that has been inspiring me lately is from Maloya, Lane 8, George FitzGerald, Mr. Tout Le Monde, Moonkids, AM.ACE, AND Deeplace. I also get inspired by the natural beauty around us.
What is in store for the future of Sp8ce Owl?
I have two more EPs and a full-length album that will be available on vinyl for this year. I am working on collaborating with some artists. I am also exploring the possibility of live shows.
