Today, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Hunter Daily returns with the long-awaited release of her debut EP, Die In LA (out now via all DSPs). The project sees Daily sharing heartfelt indie-pop tracks on which she bares her soul and shares stories of the real struggles (such as depression, self-doubt, and longing) that she’s faced despite the facade of having grown up in a glamorous place like Los Angeles.
Among its tracklisting, Die In LA includes stand-out singles from title track “Die In LA,” executively produced by Jenna Andrews (the hitmaker behind BTS‘ “Butter” and “Dynamite,” in addition to Benee‘s “Supalonley”); “Before It Falls Apart,” a vulnerable admittance of her struggles when it comes to accepting love (featured on Spotify’s New Pop Picks + Apple Music’s New in Pop and Heartache); “Skeleton Key,” a soft-spoken track on which she describes the emotional damage left in the wake of a hard but necessary breakup (hit 500k+ streams on Spotify); and a pair of tracks entitled “Karaoke Star” and “Don’t Fall Asleep,” which place listeners in the moments when they’re first falling in love.
Summarizing the project, Daily wrote:
“The Die in LA EP is my LA girl’s diary entry. I talk about growing up in LA and how that has affected my outlook on things… how I feel lucky to be here, but also have this desire to escape it at the same time. This project is my love/hate letter to my hometown, Los Angeles. In these songs, I wrote about my lived experiences, whether that be about wanting to get away, being a pessimist in relationships, depression, falling in love or heartbreak…it was all shaped by LA.”
