It’s so exciting when we discover artists who are inspiring and passionate about what they do. It becomes even more exciting when we learn that they do more than one thing and they are active across different mediums in the art scene. New York Art Life has been committed to discovering these artists who are making great changes and innovating in the arts in New York City. Because of how much we know that our audience become inspired by these individuals we think that by introducing these artists and having them connect with our audience and vice versa we create a community that not only appreciates the arts but also contributes to the never ending inspirational cycle that moves the city. The artist that we cannot wait for you to know is a multimedia artist. Her name is Alicia Assaad.
Alicia’s Take on the City
Every artist relates to the growing opportunities that happens daily in New York City. It is common for a lot of artists around the world to want to live in New York City and create on their own terms. Without doubt there are so many different things that can be done here and there are many audiences that appreciate the work of fresh artists. While Alicia has had great experience with the mediums that she works with, she took the city by storm when she arrived and began working with her preferred mediums. Mostly, she works within productions. Because she’s very fluent and different areas of production she does not like to conform to just one label as an artist and she believes that this allows her to be more free and more creative with the visions that she has. This also allows her to have more space and bringing these visions to life whether it’s in a movie, in a photo shoot, or in art objects such as costumes.
Alicia’s Influence and Working with SIRXN Productions
Currently Alicia has been working with an amazing production company. The company is called SIRXN productions, and she has many important responsibilities because of her unique skill and capturing moments as a videographer. The nature of the work of the production company is to work on feature films and fashion editorials. This can be very broad as these two genres are very different in the way that they are handled. While both genres have narratives and can tell a story, feature films often have more time and space to develop a narrative and to tell the story which can change the work of a videographer compared to fashion editorials where the emphasis is on the designs and the aesthetics, and a lot must be done to show the vision to the audience. Alicia has been a 16-millimeter videographer with SIRXN productions. It’s very important to mention her role and think about how her process is very different than other videographers since working with that type of camera––specifically the 16 millimeter is a very niche thing to do and not many companies have been working that way. Alicia is the head of the 16 millimeters at SIRXN productions and there are many big projects that are coming up. These projects will be shot using that type of camera and Alicia has a lot of experience and interesting vision that contributes to an outstanding result of using this type of camera. It is also interesting to know that Kodak is really pushing for the popularization and resurgence of 16-millimeter film to be used in productions and Alicia is contributing to that change in the filmmaking industry.
Alicia is also a costume designer with SIRXN productions on their different feature films and fashion shoots that they are working on. They have a great following which is due to the amazing visuals that they bring to their audience. In addition to that Alicia has also been given the responsibilities of producer which is key role in a production company. Some of the projects that she has been part of will be shot in New York City and on set in Brazil. According to Alicia, it is very special that SIRXN productions stays committed to telling stories that are based on the reality of Gen Z for Gen Z. One of the projects that both Alicia and SIRXN productions have been working on is a feature film called “Who Has Your time”. This is one of the highly anticipated films that the production company is working on, and Alicia is very excited to share this with her audience. She’s working as the Costume Designer and Producer of the feature film.

Alicia also has many projects that she’s working on that are personal to her and yet very important. Besides the amazing work she’s doing as a producer, costume designer, and videographer she’s also working on her own magazine. She’s most excited to share that in June 2023. The second volume of the first edition of her magazine which is called 7BB magazine will be published this magazine has a lot of significance to her because of inspiration and idea behind creating it. To Alicia 7BB magazine is aimed to empower Middle Eastern women through media intervention and diverting the most dominant forms of representation of this group of women. It is also about bringing to life a new perspective and modern outlet for these women in fashion, film, and culture. This is something that she reflected on herself as Middle Eastern women can be underrepresented through media and or represented incorrectly. Alicia believes it is her responsibility to bring their truth to media and also ultimately to audiences that want to know their story. With her background in film, costume design, fashion, production and many other areas that are important, she is leading a bright future for other artists of underrepresented groups. She’s also inspiring them to become a leader and bringing important stories to life. She’s making remarkable changes in New York City as a multimedia artist and we cannot wait for her magazine to launch.
