Icona Pop return today with ‘Shit We Do For Love, a collaboration with long time writing partner, up-and-coming Swedish artist Yaeger. This throbbing dance track with its infectious hook and catchy lyrics is equal parts inspired by late 90’s rave scene as it is by Icona Pop themselves, offering fans yet another taste of what’s to come from the duo’s hotly anticipated second studio album.

Speaking about the track, Aino & Caroline reveal, “This one is so fresh, we literally took it from the studio session and gave it to the label to release and asked them to move everything else. We were in the studio together with our friend and writing partner Hanna Yaeger talking about the craziest stuff we’ve ever done for love, we all had so many fun crazy stories. It just came together in a way that felt so current and urgent we had to release it straight away.”
‘Shit We Do For Love’ follows the release of ‘Faster’ which has been gaining traction on the club circuit and at dance radio, with early support from DJs like Charlie Hedges at BBC Radio 1, Claptone, Taiki Nulight, Bingo Players, Rawle Night Long at SiriusXM, TS7, Paco Osuna, Fedde Le Grand, CODES, Swanky Tunes, Sam Supplier at Rinse FM, Mike McFly, Juicy M, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, SkiiTour, Ruben Mandolini, Gettoblaster, Jaksan, Sugarstarr, Alec Monopoly, FOOLiE, MorganJ and more.
“Faster was so fun to make because it was probably the first time (but not last) in the process of making our new album where we felt completely free from the rules of how you are supposed to make a pop song,” Icona Pop explain. “We just followed our instincts and played around with our amazing producer Yaro and wanted to make something that we could take straight from the studio to our DJ set. ‘Faster’ is just how we like it in our DJ sets, hard, minimal, banging but still with hooks, playfulness and a POP sensibility.”

To kick off this brand new era, Icona Pop released ‘I Want You’ an exciting new collaboration with GRAMMY®-nominated Galantis, which Billboard hailed as “a catchy dance tune,” adding that “their vocals smolder and swell alongside Galantis’ production, a series of windswept breakdowns, euphoric synth stabs and throbbing choruses to turn up the heat,” with V Magazine proclaiming “the track is destined for the dancefloor, with a booming techno beat and a sense of pure euphoria.”

Next up on the live front, Icona Pop can be seen headlining Utah Pride 2023 for its Loud and Queer Concert, alongside Trixie Mattel and singer-songwriter Anabel Englund on Friday, June 2nd.
