Fresh off of screenings at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles and the FESPACO festival in Africa, the YE! Film releases a new soundtrack single, “Element” from Atlanta-based artist OWO.
YE!, starring actors Dakore Egbuson-Akande (A Sunday Affair on Netflix) and Tony Okungbowa (CBS’ hit comedy Bob❤️Abishola) is an origin story of a superheroine named Stellar who travels from her native Nigeria to the U.S. to seek out the ultimate revenge. Directed by Boston-based filmmaker John Oluwole ADEkoje, the film is his foray into the genre of crossworld fantasy. YE! introduces viewers to the main protagonists and the world of magical realism which ADEkoje has written to bridge together African and African-American storytelling.
The YE! soundtrack, executive-produced by Hank Shocklee (Public Enemy), is being released via Teknimension. Afropop artist OWO, who has opened up for Burna Boy on his U.S. tour, gives a strong and dazzling pop diva performance on “Element” with her unique blend of afrobeats, pop, and R&B sounds. The track, which is about empowered feminine energy, serves as the perfect backdrop to the film’s introduction of its main character, Stellar.
The 3-track EP features the main song, acapella and instrumental versions.
